Argentina Díaz Lozano

Argentina Díaz Lozano was born in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras, (December 15, 1912 – August 13, 1999) was a Honduran novelist and journalist.

His birth name was Argentina Bueso Mejía, when he married Porfirio Díaz Lozano, he adopted his two surnames, his work contains elements of late romanticism that has been described as “neoprimitive and poetic at the same time”. Perhaps his best-known book is the Mayapán historical novel, widely translated and with numerous editions. She was the only woman in Central America officially recognized as a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature (1970).
